“Cherry trees in the life”

(Spring 2023)

It was said in time immemorial that the god of grain resides in the cherry tree. People planted cherry trees on the banks of the fields and sowed seeds when the cherry blossoms bloomed. While imagining their everyday life with the cherry trees, I displayed the pictures of cherry trees in the rice field and photographed them.

昔、桜の木に穀物の神様が宿ると言われ、人々は田畑の土手に桜を植えその年々の季節をつかみ、桜の開花の頃に農作業を始める指標にしていたそうです。私は人々の暮らしの中に桜があったことを想像しながら、サクラの絵を田んぼに野外展示し、撮影しました。
